PAINTING WORKSHOP AT THE BENNINGTON BATTLEFIELD:
Bennington Battlefield State Historic Site is offering a painting workshop for the public on Sunday, September 28, from 1 – 4 pm. “Theorem Painting,” is a traditional form of decorative painting using pre-cut stencils to create original works of art, often done by men and women alike to decorate simple furnishings and pictures during the late 1700s and the 1800s. Phyllis Chapman will present the program at the Barnett House at 30 Caretakers Road, Hoosick Falls, NY 12090.
Stencil painting is far more than just popping white “snow” through stencils on a window at Christmas! Using special and easy techniques such as shading and highlighting, sponging, masking and layering, and hand painted finishing touches, you can create an impressive work of art in a short time. The workshop will provide participants with a wood panel that can be painted to be a hanging picture, or a small serving tray. Paints, brushes and stencils will be provided as well. At the end of the session, you will leave with a completed “theorem painting,” in the style of those made long ago- with your own special touches!
The cost for the workshop is $7 and includes all materials, instruction, and light refreshments. Pre-registration is highly recommended. Email david.pitlyk@parks.ny.gov or call 518-860-9094 to reserve your place. Class size is limited; if you have specific questions, please call 518-686-4438.

The Rensselaer County Health Department's Rabies Clinic has been rescheduled for September 20th, at the Hoosick Highway Department. This is a free rabies clinic, open to Rensselaer County residents. This is a great opportunity for county residents to get their dog or cat vaccinated and kept safe.
